You've landed in the right place if you are planning a Friends themed bachelorette party for the bride who loves the beloved TV sitcom. My sister would always put on Friends and run it on repeat while doing chores or just to have as background noise — and it will never get old for her. So when it came time to plan her bachelorette party, there was no debate about the theme.
I went down a serious rabbit hole finding affordable Friends themed bachelorette party decorations and activities we could actually use on our trip. Etsy and Amazon ended up being the best sources, and I'll share everything I found below that are best to take to a destination city for a bachelorette party.
We originally had our trip planned for Puerto Vallarta in the spring. But three weeks before departure, local political unrest made a few of the girls uncomfortable to go to Puerto Vallarta in 2026, so we made a group decision to change course. (Note: I want to call out that Puerto Vallarta is generally very safe). We landed on New Orleans and it turned out to be the better choice. Everyone (except me) had never been, and I knew it would be perfect: the food, the parties, the streets made it a better Friends themed destination.
Below you'll find everything I wished I'd had in one place when I was planning: real decoration picks with links, planning tips from my experience, and a section specifically for anyone doing a Friends bachelorette in New Orleans.
Tips for Planning a Bachelorette Party
If I could do it again, I'd appoint each friend to own one part of the planning — and let each person choose a budget within that category they're actually comfortable with.
Don't bear the burden of trying to plan the whole thing yourself. Spread the accountability and it becomes fun instead of stressful.
Delegate by category, not by task
Assign one person to handle accommodations, one to food and restaurants, one to decorations, and one or two people for activities. Everyone becomes an expert in their lane and feels genuinely invested in the outcome — not just along for the ride.
Have the budget conversation first, not last
Send a simple Google Form with a budget range before anyone books anything. One uncomfortable conversation at the start saves ten more later.
Order custom items 3–4 weeks before the party
Custom Etsy products (shirts, tumblers, sashes) typically have 5–14 business day production times before shipping even begins. Order anything custom at least 3 weeks out, 4 if you're nervous. Standard Amazon items need 2–5 days, but if you need something urgently you can subscribe to Amazon Prime and get the next-day free shipping. You can use this link to get three months of Amazon Prime at a discounted rate of $7.49/mo (it is usually $14.99/mo) and cancel at any time.
Confirm what's allowed in your rental or hotel
Before ordering a balloon arch or command-strip banner, check your Airbnb or hotel's party policy. Many have strict rules about decor, noise, and head counts. A quick message to the host saves you from a deposit dispute during checkout.
Build in a backup plan (ask me how I know)
We had Puerto Vallarta booked, pivoted to New Orleans three weeks out and luckily the pivot was affordable with hotels and flights. Our friend already get discounted room rates at Hilton hotels too! The Friends theme traveled perfectly because we focused on wearables, decor for the hotel, and games — not heavy venue-specific decor. Pack light and spread ask your group to help with the packing of the decorations to lessen the load of transporting decorations.

Friends Themed Bachelorette Party Activities in New Orleans
If you're taking your Friends themed bachelorette party to New Orleans like we did, you won't regret it! The city is practically made for a theme like this. Here's how the Friends theme translates beautifully to NOLA.
Why NOLA + Friends Is a Perfect Match
New Orleans ranks as one of the top 10 most popular bachelorette destinations in the US. The French Quarter is walkable, every bar has a to-go cup policy, and the food scene is abundant. Here are some New Orleans activity ideas that fits a Friends theme.
NOLA Activity Ideas That Fit a Friends Theme
French Quarter bar crawl with the Friends Drinking Game — Play the Friends Drinking Game at every stop. Cards like "drink every time someone says 'lobster'" hit different on Bourbon Street.

Bachelorette Party Planning Questions For A Destination City
Here are four things that visitors need to know if you are planning a bachelorette party at a destination city.
1. What is a real budget breakdown per person for bachelorette parties?
A destination trip for a bachelorette party can add up. According to The Knot's 2023 survey of 500 people, the bachelorette party for a location by plane costs an average of $2,000 per person. I spent less than $1,000 for a 4-day trip to New Orleans, so the cost varies based on where you go and what you plan to do. Set an expectation with you and the group on what the shared budget cost will be before the trip. Knowing this upfront lets you decide early whether you're doing a one-night dinner party or a full weekend trip, so it saves you from having the awkward conversations later.
2. How to actually set up the bachelorette decor (not just buy it)
Many blogs show all the decorations but never tell you what you need to actually hang them. Don't forget the essentials for the setup logistics if you are decorating an Airbnb or hotel room to avoid a last minute scramble to get the setup correct. Here are a few examples that support your bachelorette setup:
Command strips (that are Airbnb/hotel friendly)
Fishing line (if you need to get creative)
Painters tape (this is wall paint friendly)
Portable balloon pump (save yourself the trouble of blowing up balloons)
3. Printable-vs-physical guidance for games
Printable games from Etsy are cheap and instant, but someone has to actually print and cut them. Physical games cost more but arrive ready to play. Consider how much you are actually saving if you do printable games vs ready made games and how much storage space you'll have for them if you are flying to a destination.
4. A lead time and ordering timeline
Custom Etsy items — shirts, sashes, tumblers — take 5–14 business days to produce plus shipping. If you order at the wrong time, they won't arrive before the party. I recommend ordering custom items at least 4-weeks in advance before the bachelorette party to save yourself some anxiety.
The One Where You Actually Pull It Off
Here's what I know after going through this: the best Friends themed bachelorette party isn't the one with the most decorations — it's the one where the bride feels genuinely celebrated and everyone has a real experience together.
Focus your budget on things people will wear and use (tanks, sashes, fanny packs) over heavy decor that gets left behind at checkout. Invest in one great game. And if you're going to a destination like New Orleans, lean into what the destination will offer where it will do half of the work for you.
The pivot to New Orleans was the best thing that happened to the whole trip. Sometimes the plan B is the real plan A.
